REDEVELOPMENT: TOWNHOUSE IN SALZBURG
All the comforts of modern living with due respect paid to history
We have redesigned a listed former inn in Salzburg that dates back the 14th century. Extensive renovation of the building in Bierjodlgasse was carried out in the context of the building's history, giving due consideration to the protection of historic monuments and preservation of landmark buildings in the historic part of town. Today the newly created townhouse Weißes Kreuz is a unique and timeless jewel at the foot of Salzburg's fortress in the vicinity of the cathedral in the heart of the historic district.
Careful transfer into modern times
To preserve the building for decades to come, we carefully exposed the old ceilings and put in concrete ceilings to provide better protection against noise and fire. All the newly acquired old wooden doors were also soundproofed. Sustainable design is reflected in both the building's interior and exterior. The existing building structure was retained in as much as this was possible and supplemented with stone and old wood. The entire building – inside and out – has been plastered using lime plaster colored with natural pigments.
Meeting the highest of expectations
The building is not only characterized by the careful attention paid to its renovation but also by its exquisitely appointed interiors. We worked together with the Belgian interior designer Axel Vervoordt and the best local craftsmen to ensure that the highest standards of comfort and convenience were met.
